At It’s 13th Annual 25 Influential Black Women In Business Awards Luncheon

NEW YORK, N.Y. (January 2011) — The Network Journal (TNJ) will announce its 2011 list of “25
Influential Black Women in Business.”  Included is Subriana McFadden Pierce, Senior Vice President, Sale & Merchandising of Supervalu, Inc.  The honorees will be featured in the March issue of the magazine. In addition, TNJ will honor these movers and shakers during Women’s History Month at its 13th Anniversary Luncheon on March 24 at the renowned New York Marriott Marquis Hotel, located at 1535 Broadway (between 45th & 46th streets) in the business capital of the world, New York City from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

“The women we are honoring in the 13th year of these awards span job titles, industries and expertise, but they share the same traits: they all are passionate, driven and focused. They are at the forefront of American leadership and symbolize the diversity and advancement that has occurred across industry lines,” TNJ Publisher and CEO Aziz Gueye Adetimirin said. “We salute them for achieving significant levels of success in their businesses and professional careers and for their myriad contributions to their community.”

As a signature TNJ event that attracts a “Who’s Who” of business executives and decision makers from various industries, the luncheon sells out each year.   This year’s sponsors are L’Oreal USA, Wells Fargo, Entergy, Macy’s, WNYC, and WBLS-FM.

Congratulations to Nestle Purina Pet Care

Nestlé Purina on receiving a 2010 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, one of just seven such awards granted this year. This is a great achievement and high recognition for our Company.

This prestigious and highly coveted award recognizes outstanding leadership; strategic planning; customer and market focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management; and results.

Out of 83 applicants, we were one of just 16 companies that received a site visit from Baldrige examiners this year. During the October visit, examiners toured NPPC Headquarters and four plants, made calls to 10 other plants during multiple shifts and spent about 1,000 hours on our business before making a recommendation.

To put the Baldrige Award achievement in perspective, consider these facts:

  • Nestlé Purina is the first consumer packaged goods company to ever win a Baldrige Award;
  • Nestlé Purina is the first pet food manufacturer to receive the Baldrige
  • Nestlé Purina is the first Nestlé company in the United States to earn a Baldrige Award; and
  • Prior to the 2010 class, only 80 organizations had received Baldrige Awards since
